Self-Care is so important, especially when you are a stay-at-home Mom, like me!
If you are a subscriber, then you probably noticed I have been M.I.A. lately. Well, I am back! I got the opportunity to enjoy our cabin in the Poconos, get a massage, and take a break in a salt room. I was feeling overwhelmed and needed time away from my work, regroup, and center myself. And we all deserve it now and then. Take it when you need it, and don't feel guilty about it, AT ALL. That's what vacations are for! In fact, it is important to take a little time daily, even if it is only 20 minutes. As we care for our little ones around the clock, we need to allow ourselves time to center.
Here are my top 5 tips on how to take better care of yourself on a regular basis, so you can be refreshed and energize. In case you haven't heard: You cannot fill from an empty cup!
Tip #1 - Turn your morning coffee into a morning ritual
Some mornings are busy, packing lunches, rushing off to school, and even getting yourself dressed. Gulping coffee in between all of this can be par for the course. Take a few moments to get up (before everyone else) to make your coffee and sit peacefully to drink it before the family tornado starts. Or better yet, set the timer on the coffee pot the night before, so it is ready before you even wake up. Bonus! You will feel so relaxed, refreshed, and ready to start your day.
Tip #2 - Paint your nails
It doesn't matter if it's your toes or your fingernails, or both! This may need to happen once the kids are down for a nap or in bed for the night. But doing this one task is like a treat and feels so nice! A little pampering can go a long way. Looking down at your artwork throughout the week will make you feel beautiful and proud that you took some time for yourself. Glitter polishes are my favorite since I love sparkles and they make me shine!

Tip #3 - Enter into another medium daily
It can be a 30-minute sitcom that makes you laugh, a juicy magazine, or read a chapter in a romance novel. Every Momma needs a break from their current situation. It is not anything to feel guilty about doing and should be a lovely escape from tears, milk spit-up, and wiping bottoms. When you come back to your reality, you will feel refreshed.
Tip #4 - Share one of your passions with your kids
You can stay involved with something you have always loved. Something that brings you peace and tranquility. Sharing it with your child can only expand this passion and peace. It can be music, painting, cooking, singing, gardening, or anything at all. And your kids will love to learn something you love as well.
Tip #5 - Start a gratitude journal
At the end of every day, write down 5 things you are thankful for that happened. It will bring you peace and you will have a written record of fun memories to share with your family. Gratitude is the way to a calm heart and a good night's sleep. You will wake up rested and ready to have a peaceful coffee ritual.
